Chartwell

I could quite happily live in Chartwell, the country home of Sir Winston Churchill. It is one of my favourite National Trust properties.

It's far more cosy inside than it looks from the outside, with a quirky layout.

The views over the Weald of Kent are magnificent, even on a hazy April day.

Another of my top National Trust properties is The Workhouse in Southwell but one I definitely would not want the misfortune to live in.

Gum

I'm sure the little girl who lived next door when I was growing would have been delighted with this invention. Watching her peel old gum off the pavement and pop it in her mouth always horrified me!

Grace

After returning from the Grace Kelly Style Icon exhibition at the V&A, I chucked out most of my clothes and I am now on the hunt for my own new style!

If I am to follow Grace's example, I will need to keep the colour palette subtle, shapes and decoration simple and necklines modest. My hairstyles will need to be embellished with hairpieces. Maybe even a hat or two and definitely that handbag. Fashion will be followed subtly and appropriately as the years go by.

Am I up to the challenge?..........!

Crofter Jumper

The first item from the "Come back and finish what you started" list to be completed. Thanks to Pippany for the inspiration to have a go at this jumper. I made it in the age 4 sizing thinking that it would have plenty of growing room. However, I had to leave the side seam on the roll neck unsewn so that my larger-than-average-head-sized 2 year old can wear it now!

Rhubarb

Almost too pretty to eat!

Come back and finish what you started

I've added to the sidebar a list of unfinished knitting and sewing projects which taunt me from their various hiding places around the house. I'm hoping the sight of the terrifying list will goad me in to finally starting and/or completing them!

So it was with some restraint that I visited Mrs Moon. I came away with just a copy of Bright Young Things by Millamia. Once I've tackled everything on that list, I'll be back to buy the yarn for this gorgeous dress (which will hopefully get completed before next winter!)
